PORT OF SPAIN (CMC):

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Monday said she had advised President Anthony Carmoa to revoke the appointment of her tourism minister, Chandresh Sharma, insisting that “there is no privileged escape, no allowance for arrogance, no forgiveness for indiscretion”.

In a brief statement, Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar said, “This advice follows my decision to accept the resignation earlier submitted by Minister Sharma.”

The dismissal of Sharma over an alleged attack on a woman in a car park earlier this month followed the sacking last week of the Minister of the People and Social Development, Glen Ramadharsingh, following his disorderly conduct on board a Caribbean Airlines flight.

This is the 12th minister to have been removed from the Cabinet since the coalition People’s Partnership government came to office in May 2010.
