Jamaica TakeOut recently released an article “Top 10 Richest Reggae/Dancehall Artistes Alive” as expected, there was lots of buzz surrounding it. Persons were expecting some artists to be included while wondering how others did not make the list!

Jamaica is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea, comprising the third-largest island of theGreater Antilles. The island, 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, lies about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola, the island containing the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Jamaica is the fifth-largest island country in the Caribbean.

The Jamaican economy is heavily dependent on services, which accounts for nearly 80% of GDP. The country continues to derive most of its foreign exchange from tourism, remittances, and bauxite/alumina. Remittances and tourism each account for 30% of GDP, while bauxite/alumina exports make up roughly 5% of GDP. The bauxite/alumina sector was most affected by the global downturn while the tourism industry and remittance flow remained resilient.

Saying this to say that, Jamaica still have a few persons that are able to stand among the richest worldwide.

Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce powered to victory in the 100 metres of the Stockholm Diamond League 100 metres on Thursday.

Fraser-Pryce got her usual excellent start and led the event from start to finish to end in 10.93 seconds, way off her world-leading time of 10.74. She was running in a headwind of -.2.

Jamaica’s other entrant, Natasha Morrison finished third.

Morrison finished in 11.22 seconds as American Tori Bowie split the Jamaican pair with a time of 11.05.


Incarcerated Dancehall Artiste Vybz Kartel Demolishes Murder Home (VIDEO and PICTURES)

Vybz Kartel home in Havendale that became famous for being the scene of the murder that he was convicted for has been demolished.

The incarcerated dancehall artist attorney, Christian Tavares Finson, says the deejay secured all the required permits from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other government authorities.




Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison. Police say the deejay along with three other men murdered their friend Clive “Lizard” Williams at said house in the summer of 2011. His body has still not being found.

Sources close to the “Dancehall Hero” deejay said that the house had structural damages and was also badly burnt.


Ishawna – Vroom Vroom – NEW VIDEO

Ishawna drop the long awaited video for her single “Vroom Vroom.” The track is featured on the Cute Bubble Riddim, produced by Misik Muzik.

The clip starts out with Ishawna and her boyfriend heading off to work but she wants him to call in sick. But he said he had to go to work and she had a music video. The banging dancehall diva then ride off on her motorcycle to make it on set.

Ishawna is fresh off a successful performance on Reggae Sumfest.



Tommy Lee Sparta

Is Tommy Lee Sparta heading for the same fate as his mentor Vybz Kartel?

Cops are saying that Tommy Lee Sparta is a gang leader in Montego Bay. Senior Superintendent of Police -SSP Steve McGregor, who is in charged of the St. James police division, says that the dancehall star is the second in command of the vicious Sparta gang that is wrecking havoc in the city.

Earlier this month, cops barred Tommy Lee from performing at Reggae Sumfest citing security reasons.

“To my loyal fans and friends! I regret to inform you that I will not be performing at Reggae Sumfest tonight because the police high command has refused me permission on stage! This act is in breach of The Charter of Rights and Constitution of Jamaica,” the deejay told his fans on social media.

Jah Cure – Made In California – NEW VIDEO

Jah Cure drop the video for his single “Made In California” featured on his new album “The Cure” in stores now.

The clip was directed by Gareth Cobran “The Truth” and saw Jah Cure walking on the beach while singing the lyrics to the lovers rock love ballad.

Cure’s new 13-track album is now available and features singles including Rasta,” “That Girl” “Life We Live” “No Friend Of Mine,” and “All of Me” a cover of John Legend’s mega hit single.
